Currency Information

Currency, a world without money is no functioning world. Shinseina is no different, with various forms of currency.

The Common Coin
The common currency of the land of Shinseina, which can be found and used almost everywhere.
In the world of Shinseina, the most widely accepted form of money is known as Shin Coins (¤). These coins serve as the central currency across all four clans and throughout the region. Whether trading in bustling cities or remote outposts, Shin Coins are the universal standard for commerce and exchange.

The coins themselves come in four distinct types: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Crystal, each with a specific size and thickness. Copper coins are the largest in diameter, measuring 1.5 inches across and .080 inches thick. Silver coins are slightly larger in diameter at 2 inches but maintain the same thickness. Gold coins are more compact, measuring only 1 inch in diameter and .070 inches thick, while Crystal coins, the rarest and most valuable, share the 1-inch diameter but are slightly thicker at .090 inches.
Their value is structured in a straightforward hierarchy:

-
100 Copper Coins equal 1 Silver Coin
-
10 Silver Coins equal 1 Gold Coin
-
10 Gold Coins equal 1 Crystal Coin

To give a sense of their real-world equivalent, one Copper Coin is approximately equal to:

-
1 US Dollar
-
6.93 Chinese Yuan
-
0.88 Euro
-
71.18 Indian Rupee
-
112.98 Japanese Yen
-
1.32 Canadian Dollar

Each coin is intricately designed and unique in both form and shimmer, often reflecting the mana-rich craftsmanship of Shinseina’s minting guilds. From humble trades to royal negotiations, the flow of these coins is the lifeblood of the economy.

Draconic Coin
The coin commonly used amongst the people of the Draconyx Realm and even some smaller dragon tribes.

The Draconic Coin is the sole and exclusive currency of the Draconyx Realm, used primarily by dragons and those who dwell within their territories. Unlike the Shin Coins that circulate broadly across Shinseina’s four clans, the Draconic Coin holds little formal value outside its homeland. However, within the Draconyx Realm, it is a symbol of prestige, authority, and wealth, recognized and respected by dragonkind and those who trade with them.

There is only one type of Draconic Coin. It does not divide into smaller or larger denominations. Crafted with care and imbued with traces of ancient magic, each coin measures 2.5 inches in diameter and is relatively thin, at .060 inches thick.

Although the coin is not officially recognized by the major clans of Shinseina, some traders and collectors estimate its worth to be roughly equivalent to 30 Copper Shin Coins. Even so, the true value of a Draconic Coin can fluctuate greatly within the realm itself, influenced by the rarity of the item being traded or the nature of the being you barter with. Among dragons, a single coin may hold far more significance than mere currency.

Elven Coin
The coin of the Elves, often used within communities where Elves or even Mages roam.
The Elven Coin is a distinct form of currency used almost exclusively by the elven race, particularly within their secluded tribes and forest-bound villages. Though not widely accepted across the four major Clans of Shinseina, it holds notable value in certain regions, especially within the Beast Clan, where it is often honored as a legitimate means of trade.

Unlike Shin Coins, the Elven Coin exists as a single unified type. Elegant in design and crafted with traditional elven finesse, each coin measures 1 inch in diameter and .050 inches in thickness.

The coin’s worth varies slightly depending on where it is used. In most cases, 1 Elven Coin is considered equal to 15 Copper Shin Coins, though in some elven communities, particularly those more isolated or ancestry inclined, it may be treated as equivalent to 25 Copper Coins. For the elves, however, the value of the coin often goes beyond mere economics, tied instead to honor, tradition, and the trust of the one who carries it.

Magical Currencies
In a world of magic, there are some currencies that even hold magical properties.
Magic Coins are a rare and powerful form of currency primarily used by magicians and those attuned to the arcane arts. Unlike standard coinage, these coins are accepted not only by all four major Clans of Shinseina but also by most settlements and scholarly circles across the realm. Their rarity and high value make them less common in everyday transactions, often reserved for specialized trade or magical dealings.

Their scarcity stems from the arduous creation process; each coin must be infused with a significant amount of mana during its forging. This infusion causes the coin to emit a subtle glow, marking its completion and enhancing its value. This radiant mana is not merely decorative; Magic Coins are often used in rituals, alchemical processes, or even to momentarily amplify a mage’s own mana output. For many, these coins are more than currency; they are a source of power.

Two types of Magic Coins currently circulate throughout the world:

-
The Damone Coin: Golden-hued and etched with the figure of an eye, this coin measures 1 inch in diameter and .060 inches in thickness. It represents precision and intellect.
Estimated Value: 10 Silver Shin Coins. -
The Fae Coin: Larger and gold in color, this coin measures 1.5 inches in diameter and .075 inches in thickness, bearing the swirling patterns and symbols. It is especially sought after by mages, practitioners, and magical institutions.
Estimated Value: 15 Gold Shin Coins.

Both types are rare, coveted, and influential, carrying worth not just in coinage but in the magical potential sealed within their very core.
